Role overview
We are supporting an international manufacturer looking to appoint an Energy Portfolio Lead to shape how energy is purchased, managed and decarbonised across its operations.
The position sits at the intersection of commercial procurement, energy markets and sustainability. You will help the business make informed decisions on when and how to purchase energy, manage exposure to market volatility and secure a greater proportion of its power from renewable sources.
This is an influential role with visibility across procurement, finance, operations and sustainability teams. It would suit someone who combines a strong understanding of energy markets with the commercial confidence to lead supplier negotiations and long-term contracting strategies.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Shaping the company’s approach to purchasing electricity and other energy commodities across multiple operational locations.
- Developing procurement strategies that balance cost, market exposure, security of supply and sustainability objectives.
- Assessing short-, medium- and long-term energy-market risks and presenting clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Exploring and delivering renewable energy arrangements, including corporate PPAs and alternative contracting models.
- Leading commercial discussions with energy suppliers, renewable developers and specialist market partners.
- Coordinating competitive procurement exercises and supporting the negotiation of energy contracts.
- Reviewing energy demand, market pricing and future operational requirements to improve purchasing decisions.
- Working with finance teams on energy budgets, forecasts and cost scenarios.
- Partnering with sustainability teams to support renewable electricity and carbon-reduction commitments.
- Providing internal stakeholders with relevant market intelligence and portfolio updates.
- Creating a consistent commercial approach to energy purchasing across different countries and operating sites.
- Identifying opportunities presented by on-site generation, energy storage, flexibility and demand management.
What we’re looking for
- Experience in energy procurement, energy sourcing, portfolio management or a related commercial energy role.
- A strong working knowledge of European electricity markets and energy-contracting structures.
- Experience managing energy-price exposure and developing risk-based purchasing strategies.
- Knowledge of corporate PPAs, renewable energy contracts or long-term power sourcing.
- Strong commercial and contractual negotiation skills.
- Experience managing relationships with utilities, suppliers, developers, advisors or trading counterparties.
- The ability to interpret market and consumption data and turn it into practical commercial recommendations.
- Confidence communicating with senior stakeholders across finance, procurement, operations and sustainability.
- Experience working across multiple countries, sites or business units.
- Professional fluency in English.
Experience within manufacturing, automotive, industrial technology or another energy-intensive environment would be advantageous. German-language capability would also be beneficial but is not essential.
