Customer-Facing Electronics Engineer – Automotive Battery Systems

We’re supporting a global manufacturer seeking an experienced automotive electronics engineer for a highly visible, customer-facing position within its energy systems division.

Sitting between automotive customers and internal engineering teams, you’ll lead the technical conversation during the earliest stages of new programmes. You’ll explore customer requirements, assess what is technically achievable and help shape competitive electronic solutions before projects are awarded.

This opportunity would suit an engineer who enjoys being close to customers while remaining actively involved in technical design and development.

Your role

You will:

  • Act as the primary electronics contact for automotive customers during early-stage discussions.
  • Lead technical meetings, requirement reviews and solution-development conversations.
  • Translate customer needs into clear electronic concepts and engineering requirements.
  • Present proposed solutions, explain technical decisions and respond to customer challenges.
  • Build trusted relationships with customer engineering and technical procurement teams.
  • Develop electronic solutions for advanced low-voltage battery applications.
  • Determine how existing hardware platforms can be adapted for individual programmes.
  • Contribute to embedded PCBA architecture, power conversion and electronic integration.
  • Apply modelling, simulation and circuit analysis to validate proposed concepts.
  • Balance performance, safety, manufacturability and cost when developing solutions.
  • Coordinate input from systems, hardware, manufacturing and quality specialists.
  • Support programmes from initial customer engagement through to project nomination.
  • Manage technical activities across several customers and opportunities concurrently.

Your experience

You’ll bring:

  • Customer-facing engineering experience within the automotive sector.
  • The confidence to lead technical discussions with automotive manufacturers.
  • A background in embedded electronics or PCBA development.
  • Experience with low-voltage battery, power-management or energy-storage systems.
  • Knowledge of power electronics, including DC/DC converters, inverters or power stages.
  • Experience using circuit-design, analysis or simulation tools.
  • An understanding of automotive development and qualification processes.
  • Knowledge of functional safety, ideally including ISO 26262.
  • Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
  • A degree in electronics, electrical engineering or a related discipline.
  • Fluent English; German language skills would be advantageous.
